Il correspond au premier éon de l'échelle des temps géologiques terrestres et est chronologiquement suivi par l'Archéen. Compte tenu des conditions extrêmement difficiles qui régnaient alors à la surface de la terre : il a donné à cet éon le nom du dieu grec des enfers, Hadès

STOICHEIA du grec "éléments".
Les sens du terme Stoicheia désigne tout item dans une série (une rangée ou un alignement) ordonnée. Au bout du compte, un élément désigne donc une partie constitutive d'un tout ou d'une totalité, de telle sorte que cet élément ait une place assignée dans une totalité ordonnée ou, si l'on préfère une structure.
«premiers, simples et indivisibles» comme les lettres sont les éléments de la syllabe ou du mot.

HADEEN, the Primitive Earth.
